Since the label’s inception in 1996, it has thrived on a commitment to preserving a boundless, forward-thinking music community. Everything about Dim Mak stems from founder Steve Aoki’s “Do It Yourself” ethos to morph and move with the industry’s ever-changing tides.
Launching in 1996 with a 7 inch from obscure, SoCal hardcore ensemble Stickfigurecarousel, Dim Mak has since put out over 200 releases and broken artists from The Kills, Battles, Bloc Party, The Gossip, Klaxons, The Bloody Beetroots, MSTRKRFT, Robert Raimon Roy, Felix Cartal, to Datsik and more. In just the past few years, Dim Mak has created its touring department in the same tradition of spanning genres and doing what feels right.
