It seems Avicii likes doing things by the million. Following his whopping $1 million donation to charity, the producer has announced that to celebrate reaching a million fans on Facebook, he wants to give away a little bit more.

The DJ, real name Tim Bergling, has put the call out on his Facebook page for fans to enter a – wait for it – Avicii look-a-like contest. As if looking like Avicii isn’t reward enough in itself, the two most convincing mirror images will win VIP tickets for themselves and a guest to Bergling’s March 3 show in his hometown of Stockholm, along with flights and accommodation.

So what’s the key to taking home the prestigious title of Avicii’s doppleganger? “We’re gonna judge on pure creativeness,” Avicii wrote on his Facebook, before warning, “Don’t just wear a plaid shirt and it call it a day though!”

You see, it’s no mean feat to reinvent one’s self as the long-lost Bergling twin. As well as recreating the Levels producer’s ubiquitous plaid shirt, entrants will have to try and match that Nordic baby face, floppy blonde ‘do, trademark beanie and ever-present thumb-finger wave when he’s performing!

Hopeful Avicii look-a-likes have until February 19 to send their entries to look-like@avicii.com – better get bleaching!

We’ve found some mayor news about international superstar dj Tiësto, this man is still going strong. His career is an enormous list of achievements, to name a few: Tiësto has is own day in Vegas, A Tiësto Blackjack Table and of course all the awards and listings at DJ Mag.

Tiësto, recently voted “The Greatest DJ of All Time” by Mixmag, has forged an exclusive residency with Wynn Las Vegas daylife and nightclub venues Encore Beach Club, Surrender and XS nightclubs for 2012.

With countless achievements including a Grammy Award nomination, several MTV awards, and a performance at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Tiësto, a.k.a. Tijs Verwest, is one of the most recognizable electronic artists worldwide. He has developed an incredible following over his career and compiled more than 10 million Facebook fans and nearly 300 million hits on YouTube.

Tiesto 2012 Residency at Wynn Las Vegas

Dancefair is het elektronische muziek event voor zowel amateurs, semi/profs als professionals in de muziekwereld. Meer dan 50 gerenommeerde dj’s, producers, labels, event organisatoren, boekingskantoren en engineers delen hun kennis in 140 seminars en er is een beursvloer van 2000m2 met de nieuwste ontwikkelingen op producer en dj gear gebied.

Educatie en feedback

Op de beursvloer en tijdens verschillende seminars delen bekende artiesten hun kennis met bezoekers. Ook beantwoorden zij vragen en scouten zij nieuw talent. Een unieke kans voor minder bekende producers om hun muziek te laten horen en instant feedback te krijgen op hun producties. De ‘Demo Feedback Lounge’ is een ruimte die speciaal is ingericht om labels en producers samen te brengen.

Nieuw talent scouten

Uit Dancefair’s focusgroepen is gebleken dat producers – zowel amateur als professioneel – veel behoefte hebben aan feedback op hun muziek. Ze willen weten wat “collega’s” maar vooral ook platenlabels van hun tracks vinden. Wat die laatste groep betreft: via de mail of via de post een demootje opsturen, zorgt zelden voor een reactie. En dat is vaak erg teleurstellend omdat je dan nog niet weet of je op de goede weg bent. Norman Soares (founder Dancefair): “Dit is een van de redenen waarom ik Dancefair wilde organiseren en groots wil inzetten”. Dancefair was dan ook aangenaam verrast door de geweldige respons van gerenommeerde labels die tijd uittrekken om tracks te gaan beluisteren. En ook door de komst van gerenommeerde DJ’s die hun kennis willen delen met collega’s die hun muzikale dromen, in welke vorm dan ook, willen verwezenlijken.

Feedback krijgen, leren en nog beter te worden

Of dit valse hoop zou kunnen opwekken bij vele bezoekers wuift Norman Soares direct weg. “Producers met minder ervaring zijn over het algemeen niet gek en ook niet naïef. Ze verwachten echt niet allemaal met een dikke deal in hun zak Dancefair te verlaten. Natuurlijk hopen ze het wel, maar ze willen juist gehoord worden en feedback krijgen op hun tracks. En dat is precies waar het bij Dancefair om draait.”
