Music On Board (MOB); South America’s most rave-friendly cruise

Music On Board (MOB); South America’s most rave-friendly cruise

Credits for this post go out to DJMag! Thank you for posting this.

What’s big, floats on water and carries 2,400 dance music-obsessed Brazilians? Nope, Green Valley hasn’t been swallowed whole by a blue whale.

This March, a cruise liner named Vision Of The Seas will set sail from Santos, Brazil, armed to the teeth with a killer soundsystem, LED panels, CO2 cannons and some of the finest DJs ever to set foot on South American soil.

Booka Shade, Phonique, Lee Foss (& Ali Love), Lovebirds and Jonathan Ulysses are just a few of the names confirmed for MOB (Music On Board), a festival on a cruise ship, in its fifth year, offering enough underground talent to impress even the more cynical of dance music lovers, despite originating from a club scene more synonymous with lists and bottles than its engagement with subterranean music.

Of course, the big names will be represented too. Previous events, three of which took place on 1,700-capacity liner Island Escape between 2007 and 2009, witnessed Fedde Le Grand, Above & Beyond and Gareth Emery supplying the beats. While this year, Kaskade, the biggest on this bill, will join a plethora of homegrown DJs and producers, including Life Is A Loop, Mario Fischetti and Rodrigo Vieira, to help decimate the two dancefloors on board Vision Of The Seas — one by the pool; the other in the atrium.

“It’s a unique festival in the middle of the ocean, blessed by the sun or by a full moon, with non-stop music for people who love to party,” says Jujaba. “It’s a place that’s hard to describe. You must be there to feel it and to understand it. And once you are there, you will never want to leave.”

Taking place between 9th – 12th March on a lavish boat holding two swimming pools, six jacuzzis and a range of fitness facilities for any raver who fancies a break from the never-ending barrage of beats and basslines, MOB will also stop on a private island on Saturday, where classy Berlin-based producer Lovebirds will play a blissed-out house set on a white sandy beach at sunset that promises Balearic beats with a Brazilian twist.

“One other thing that makes it very special is definitely the vibe,” he says. “Brazil is a very friendly country, and the energy of the people is unique. Brazilians are beautiful, happy people who know how to have fun.”

Illegal tickets for Tomorrowland 2012 already on sale – Watch out!

Tomorrowland 2012

Several months before the official ticket sales for Tomorrowland 2012 even starts, there are already popping up websites offering fake tickets. Watch out – DON’T BUY THESE TICKETS, because they are fake as heck.

ID&T, the company behind Tomorrowland, is reporting this fraud on different websites. ‘Through a Tweet we were notified about that somebody already bought a ticket’, Debby Wilmsen of ID&T states, ‘that’s highly remarkable if you realize that the official ticket sale won’t start until April 7th’.

The organisation warns for fake tickets with a message on their Tomorrowland facebook page and they keep updating that page when they find new organisations selling these counterfeits, so keep an eye on that page and don’t fall for the fake ticket trap. It’s SO f*cked up when you’re at the gate of Tomorrowland and you just can’t get in, while your friends can (and probably will…)

Be warned! And ofcourse, be blessed with an event like Tomorrowland. With all the craziness in 2011, a lot of good events are either totally gone, heavily re-arranged (read: made cheaper) or are not what they’re used to be.

We don’t know what will happen tomorrow, because as we all know:
yesterday was history, today is a gift and tomorrow is a mystery!

Steve Aoki – Ladi Dadi Remix Contest on Beatport Play

Steve Aoki - Ladi Dadi Remix Contest on Beatport Play

A scene kingpin like Steve Aoki could only come from Los Angeles: in the tradition of the great Hollywood moguls, he’s built a thriving electro empire around his Dim Mak label and his no-holds-barred parties.

The kid’s got clout: his new album, Wonderland, features an all-star cast including Lil Jon, Nervo, LMFAO, Angger Dimas, Kid Cudi, Travis Barker, Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, and even Will.I.Am (in his new guise as zuper blahq).

Now, Beatport is giving you the chance to join Aoki’s entourage—virtually, anyway—by remixing his song “Ladi Dadi,” featuring Wynter Gordon. The winning remix will be released on Ultra, and the winning remixer will take home an Odyssey Redline DJ Bag (a $500 value)—just the thing for rolling up to gigs in a style befitting a true player. Download the parts from Beatport and get started; submissions open January 24th and close on February 6th!
